Ellis Cahn, In Memoriam
Last year’s 2008 Trans-Am Invitational would have been RMVR member Ellis Cahn’s first event as a member of the Historic Group, driving his Lotus 23. After a great Friday Test & Tune session and while relaxing with friends in the paddock, Ellis suffered a massive, fatal heart attack.
In tribute to Ellis, the Historic Group, at the 2009 Trans-Am event, gridded for their Feature Race in a Missing Man Formation, leaving the Pole Position open and granting that honorary position to Ellis. While the photo shows less that 40% of the field, the Historic Group had formed up before entering Corner 1, running the entire lap in Formation. Exceptionally well done.
