Drivers’ School 2017
Hello Friends of RMVR:
As you know, the annual Drivers' School is coming up soon and is scheduled for April 29 & 30 at PPIR. As of today, we have over 40 students signed up for the course and we need some more Driving Instructor Volunteers. The School is scheduled for 7am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. RMVR could use your help! Please volunteer and send an email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org This is the Club's annual effort to get new racers involved with RMVR. Something seems to be working... so let's keep up the good work. Hey, give me a call if you prefer. Thank you very much for your attention to this important matter!

Race Cars 4 Sale
Do you have a vintage race car that you would like to sell? Or perhaps even a street car that you know would make a nice, vintage-legal race car with a bit of work? RMVR is going to use this year’s annual Driver’s School (April 29, 30) to try and help connect potential race car buyers (students) with cars for sale. After all, an RMVR driver’s school graduate who actually possesses a race car is a lot more likely to participate in future RMVR events!
As in prior years, we will include a list of “race car for sale” ads with each student’s registration packet. This year, we also plan to designate an area of the paddock during the School weekend where cars for sale can be parked and displayed, allowing the students to see the cars in person. This will present a great opportunity for new drivers to find cars, and for unused race cars to get back into circulation!
If you have a race car you would like to sell, please prepare a 1-page ad with details about the car, your asking price, a picture or two, and your contact info. Send your ad to Brad Leach (email@example.com) for inclusion in the student registration packet, and please indicate whether or not you are likely to bring the car for display to the driver’s school on April 29th and 30th. For questions regarding the ads or the paddock “For Sale” area, contact Brad at (303) 973 6303

Announcing the 2017 RAKC Ambassador Award
As shared in the March Messenger, we are excited to have 6 MAF Ambassadors join us for this year’s RAKC. These kids—Jamin, Jordan, Koby, Meredith, Tayler and Trevor—are cancer warriors and survivors and are the reason we have this amazing event every year!
This year, the various race Run Groups and a Worker Group will be partnering with one of these MAF Ambassadors to compete for a new prize: The RAKC Ambassador Award.
This award will be given to the team that best exemplifies the overall spirit of this event, and consider things like:
· Percent/number of RAKC-registered RMVR members in the Run Group that donated and/or fundraised
· Number of RMVR members in the Run Group that are not registered for the RAKC but donated and/or fundraised
· Number of RMVR members in the Run Group donating/raising sponsorships over $250
· Total dollars raised by the Run Group
· The special and creative ways the team honored and celebrated their MAF Ambassador
Will your team win?
The winner of the RAKC Ambassador Award will be selected by MAF and awarded at the Saturday evening dinner. Following the race week-end, the trophy will reside at the MAF offices to honor all MAF Ambassadors and to promote the annual RAKC event.
Look for more information from your Run Group Team Captain in the coming
weeks and months.

Do You Know a Possible Corporate Sponsor?
Do you have a personal or business relationship with someone who may want to be a corporate sponsor for the 2017 Race and Rally Against Kids’ Cancer? If so, please reach out to either Joan Slaughter at MAF (firstname.lastname@example.org) or RMVR’s Matt Ammer (email@example.com), providing the name of the organization, your contact’s name and position, and any background information on prior sponsorship discussions with them. Joan or Matt will then work with you to move the opportunity forward. There are a variety of great new sponsorship options available for 2017 so please reach out to Joan or Matt to help secure the sponsorship commitment.
CVAR’S Inaugural Race Against Kids’ Cancer
The Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing (CVAR) club has decided to have their own charity race to benefit The Morgan Adams Foundation! The CVAR race will be held just outside Ft. Worth on June 2-4 at the MotorSport Ranch in Cresson. CVAR is doing some unique things to help raise money for MAF, including donating all proceeds from the Friday test day and a Friday afternoon tour into historic downtown Granbury. So, if you want to try a new track, support our charity partner in a fun and new way, and have some great new competition, put the CVAR RAKC on your calendar this year! With the RMVR Pueblo race the week-end after, you might even consider heading south for the CVAR race and then take a leisurely drive northwest through New Mexico (with a stop for some great food in Santa Fe, of course) for our Pueblo race. CVAR is promoting our Pueblo race to their membership as well so doing the back-to-back races will make for a fun competition among neighboring clubs.
Let’s Rally…Against Kids’ Cancer!
If you’re not planning to race in this year’s RAKC, or your friends/family are looking for something fun to do, please consider supporting the event by participating in the 2nd annual Rally Against Kids’ Cancer on Saturday, July 29.
Similar to last year, this year’s Rally will be a fun Poker Rally, with several stops throughout Denver and end at High Plains Raceway. Each stop will have a variety of fun activities, refreshments and prizes.
More details to follow, but mark your calendars now. You won’t want to miss out!

Preseason Annual Tech Inspection: How, When & Why
The 2017 race season is fast approaching and it’s time to think about getting your cars ready for the season. Part of getting ready for the season is getting an Annual Tech Inspection for your race car. Here’s detailed information on the inspection process, both preseason annual tech and inspection at events. As you no doubt know, there are some big incentives to get your Annual Tech done before the season begins: • First, the Annual Tech is a way to have another pair of eyes spend some quality time with your car. Annual Tech Inspections look at more items than an event tech and they aren’t as hurried. This results in better safety for you. • Second, the Annual Tech allows you to avoid three weekends’ event tech. Just fill out your tech sheet and show your log book (noting the Annual Tech) at the next three races and you can get an event tech sticker without the hassle of an actual event tech. How great is that? So, get ‘er done. Here’s a link to the tech inspection form which you should fill out and do your self-inspection before presenting the car for inspection. For your convenience our tech crews will be available to perform Preseason Annual Tech Inspections this spring at various locations along the Front Range. At these upcoming group tech days, our guys will do the Annual Inspection for free.

Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing, Ltd. -
Snowmass Street Race, September 2017
Here is the announcement we have been waiting 19 years for:
Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing is extremely excited about our new opportunity for a street race in Snowmass Village starting in 2017. The town of Snowmass Village is including this event as part of their automobile week, car show, and car auction. The street race will be on public roads at the base of the ski area and will be a 1.3 mile loop using Carriage Way, Brush Creek Rd. and Wood Rd. This will be a challenging 14 turn road course and the location is fantastic.
We hope this street race becomes a big weekend event in the years to come. This first year we need to put on an excellent safe race and show the town of Snowmass Village that a street race will be good for their town. RMVR will need your help as a participant, marshal, volunteer and/or spectator to make this event a success.
• 60 to 70 drivers to compete in the one day street race on Thursday, September 14th.
• Participants should have four sessions ~ 20 minutes each on the road race circuit which equals more track time in one day than most other premier events have for the whole weekend.
• In addition to the road race, Friday, September 15th will be a track day at Woody Creek Raceway.
• We want to open this lapping day to anyone who volunteers to help us with the Aspen/Snowmass weekend. So bring your track cars/street cars up for the lapping day.
• Saturday September 16th will be a car show that the participants of the street race will be required to attend.
• RMVR was able to get a block of rooms at the Westin Snowmass Resort at a great rate for Wednesday-Sunday, 4 nights, ~$135 per night. Filling these rooms gave RMVR the discount on the worker rooms we need for race support. All drivers will be required to purchase a room for 4 nights.
• Motorhomes are not allowed in the paddock or overnight in Snowmass Village, please leave them at home.
• We will need our usual complement of corner workers and will supply rooms for workers on Wednesday and Thursday nights. We will offer discounted rooms rates to the workers for Friday and Saturday at about $90 per night.
• Workers are welcome to attend all of the events during the week including the welcome cocktail party, Thursday night dinner and party, lapping at Woody Creek and the car show.
• For the Thursday street race in addition to the race workers, we will need an additional 40 to 60 volunteers for crowd control points and vehicle control points among other things. We will offer discounted room rates for these folks if you are not already staying with someone.
Race entry: ~$500-$600
Hotel 4 nights: ~$600
Total ~ $1100-$1200
We need sponsorship money, which will affect these prices.
All drivers will be required to pay for the race and included hotel rooms. This includes the race entry fee, welcome cocktail party put on by Snowmass Village Wednesday evening, rooms Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday night for two, tickets for two to the RMVR dinner and party Thursday night and a lapping day at Woody Creek Friday. The car show is all day Saturday. The car auction and wine tasting are not included, but tickets are available.
RMVR can’t race without the amazing support provided by our workers and volunteers every weekend. Our Chief Marshals need your input to organize everyone and provide for rooms and food. So please click on the weekend you wish to work and let them know. You do not need to have volunteered before—sign up, and we’ll train you!
Questions or comments? Need to change the times you’ve signed up for? Please contact Lisa Williams at 303-257-3557 or email@example.com.
A new season is here, and RMVR Administration and Timing and Scoring encourages drivers to visit their "garages" on MSR to verify their vehicle information including; Car color, number and transponder information. This will ensure that proper information is being reported and that any anomalies are corrected prior to the event.
The new ad hopefully final location will be...(drum roll, please);
