2006 Advanced Drivers’ School

Friday, June 2, 2006
10:00 AM
5:00 PM

Mission of Advanced School:

The goal of the RMVR Advanced Racing School is to offer instruction that will result in improved racing skills to ensure safe participation in and enjoyment of the sport of vintage racing. In addition to being limited to the first twenty-five entrants, this year’s Advanced Driving School will be restricted to RMVR members who already have their competition license.

Learning Outcomes:

School participants will:

  • Improve driving techniques and car control
  • Become aware of and practice the “craft” of racing
  • Learn and practice more advanced skills in braking and setting-up for corners
  • Have fun!

Our June Pueblo weekend should prove to be a very exciting event for RMVR! In addition to the wonderful Fifth Annual Trans-Am Invitational and our normal race weekend, there will also be a Friday Advanced Racing School. (The track will still be available on Friday for Test & Tune if you chose to not participate in the Advance Racing School). The cost of the Advanced Racing School is only modestly more than you’d pay to just T&T for the day. So come on out and join the fun! This is the deal of the year!

This is a great opportunity for RMVR racers. If you wish to participate in the Advanced Racing School or T&T on Friday (with no School), please use the special Trans-Am Entry Form to help Diane keep things straight. Please feel free to contact Bob Alder or John Brosseau at driving-instructor@rmvr.com with any questions.

Curriculum Description:

At this year’s Advanced Driving School there will be four classroom sessions (one in the AM, three in the afternoon). The track sessions will be structured to focus on the previous classroom session’s subject matter and will include track-side observations (and subsequent feedback) by the instructors.

Mike Pettiford and some of his teaching staff will be conducting the School this year. Michael is President of GO 4 IT Services, Inc., and currently holds SCCA and AMA Pro Roadracing competition licenses. As a racer, Michael has numerous championships and awards to his credit and is a competitor on the professional racing circuit. As an instructor, he has trained with MSF, ASI, AAA, MRA and SCCA, and has been in the safety instruction business for over 20 years. His expertise in high performance car and motorcycle racing along with his experience in safety education guarantee an exciting, yet safe training environment for his students.
