2020 RMVR Fire & Rescue School

EVENT CANCELLED

Arvada Fire District Training Center
6651 Indiana St., Arvada, CO

This highly acclaimed school is for experienced workers, new workers, drivers and crews. Professionals do all the emergency training. It’s free to all RMVR members, otherwise there is a small ($35) fee for non RMVR workers for the weekend.

It’s great for removing the cobwebs of winter, having your questions answered, and getting hands-on fire training and extrication practice. It’s a great chance to sit down and think about proper flag use and their meanings, and about what workers do and why. For novices, it’s a great place to start. For drivers, it is a chance to learn corner worker safety procedures and their application during racing events.

Highlights

  • Single day event
  • Lunch is NOT provided at the training.  Everyone is expected to get lunch on their own.
  • Practice using fire extinguishers by putting out a fire on a burning car

Schedule

  • 8:00 am – 8:30 am  Registration, coffee and donuts
  • 8:30 am – 5:00 pm  Class

Fees

  • Free for RMVR members and RMVR volunteers
  • $35 for non-members and non-RMVR volunteers

Space is limited to 90 attendees, so sign up soon!

Marshals, please wear your whites, and bring your track gear bags. This is how we will show the newbies their options for track gear (and cut a day off the schedule). Bring sunscreen, a protective leather or heavy cotton jacket, gloves, and safety glasses for fire extinguisher training.

If not wearing whites, do wear comfortable cotton clothing that can get dirty. This is a hands on event. It’s Colorado, so be ready for cool and hot weather. We will be outside for some exercises.

Please download and print (or have available electronically) the Flagging & Communications Manual.
