How To Get Your Car Inspected

RMVR Annual and Event Tech Inspections

A How-To for Car Owners/Drivers

Annual Tech Inspection

Your Annual Tech Inspection must be completed each year before you can race.

  1. Print the Annual Tech and Safety Inspection form. Fill out everything but the Event.
  2. Thoroughly inspect the car and check off (in the Driver column) all the items on the list. Sign the form.
  3. Take your car to an Annual Tech site or ask a tech inspector to come see your car. You will need:
    • a floor jack and all tools necessary to remove your wheels and check the brakes, and
    • all your driver’s safety gear and your co-driver’s safety gear.

You can also have a qualified shop, mechanic, or tech inspector thoroughly inspect the car and check off each item in the Tech column. Make sure they know what’s expected of an Annual Tech inspection; you can download a copy of the Tech Manual from the RMVR website.

  4. If your car passes, the tech inspector will put an Annual Tech sticker in your log book, sign both the log book and the form, and put a current tech sticker on your helmet.
If your car does not pass, the tech inspector will note what needs to be fixed in your log book and on the form. You will need to fix those before your Annual Tech can be completed.
  5. Keep the form and bring it to your first event as evidence of your Annual inspection.

Event Tech Inspection

If you have a completed Annual Tech inspection:

  1. Present your Annual Tech and Safety Inspection form, your log book, and your helmet with a current tech sticker to a tech inspector. If there are any comments on the form or in your log book, the tech inspector will check those on your car to make sure they’re fixed.
  2. The tech inspector will sign your log book on the page for that event and give you a signed or initialed Event Tech sticker to put on your car.
If the tech inspector doesn’t know the shop or mechanic who performed your Annual Tech inspection, they may re-inspect some of the more critical things on your car before signing your log book and giving you an Event Tech sticker.

If you do not have a completed Annual Tech inspection:
You will need to have one performed at the track. See Annual Tech Inspection above for what you need to do and bring. A tech inspector will get to your car as soon as they have time, but cars with completed Annual Tech inspections take precedence.

Regular Event Tech Inspection

  1. Print and fill out the Event Tech and Safety Inspection form.
  2. Thoroughly inspect the car and check off (in the Driver column) all the items on the list. Sign the form.
  3. Note: You are solely responsible for checking your driver safety equipment and your frame. If you fail to use your driver safety equipment, you likely will be turned away at the grid or black-flagged while on the track.

  4. Present your form, your log book, and your helmet with a current tech sticker to a tech inspector, who will inspect the car and check off each item in the Tech column. They will also closely inspect any issues previously noted in the log book.
  5. If your car passes, the tech inspector will sign your log book and the form and give you a signed or initialed Event Tech sticker to put on your car.
If your car does not pass, the tech inspector will note in your log book and on the form the items that need to be fixed before you can race. If you can fix them that day or that weekend, you can have the same tech inspector re-inspect those items and still get to race.

This year Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing is celebrating 25 years of vintage racing fun and excitement, and we want you to celebrate with us! Join us at the Club Auto Lemay Car Museum in Lakewood from 1:00 pm until 4 pm. This is a great new facility and a perfect setting for celebrating our 25th anniversary in style.

  1. Enjoy a delicious lunch (snacks, lasagne, beer, wine and soft drinks provided)
  2. Check out the nifty cars, reminisce with other vintage racing enthusiasts
  3. Learn more about the new track at High Plains Raceway!
  4. Get yourself some 25th Anniversary clothing and regalia.
  5. Watch footage of RMVR events on the big screen TV and
  6. Test your speed in the pit crew games
  7. Finally, join us for cake and ice cream as we toast RMVR’s first 25 years with good wishes for the next twenty-five.

This event is free to all members and their families, as well as former members and their families. We’d love to see all present and former RMVR members.

The Grand Pooh-bah of the event, Tom Deats, has asked that if you are going to attend, PLEASE RSVP to help him better plan the event Send your RSVP to rmvr25@rmvr.com and let Tom know how many are in your group, including kids. Please respond by July 20th, as we need a definite count for the caterer by the 21st.

PLUS: If you have a special interest or collectible car or motorcycle that you drive but don’t race, bring it! We’re going to have an informal “car show” giving you a chance to show off your pride and joy. This will be held indoors in a large garage area just off the party room.

It would also be FANTASTIC to see some of the old race cars that raced in Steamboat and/or the Gran Prix in Denver. These would sure bring back lots of memories for many of us, and we will waive tech inspection on the first 50 cars - so if you have one, won’t you please bring it!

When you RSVP please let us know if you think you will be bringing a vehicle for the show so that we can be sure we reserve enough space in the garage. We don’t need any details, just that you’ll be bringing something for the display.
